Raising a concern
If you have a problem concerning your child, please make an appointment to see the class teacher at the earliest opportunity. Most problems can be dealt with informally by the teacher concerned, and the Head of School will normally refer parents to the class teacher as the first port of call. The Office Staff, Family Support Worker, Pastoral staff or senior school staff may become involved if the matter is not easily resolved. Problems will be then referred to the Head of School when standard procedures have not been effective in resolving the issue.
Parents are welcome to discuss any issues they may have regarding their child. However, as you can appreciate, the start of the school day is a very busy time, and class teachers would welcome discussions at the end of the school day after all children have been dismissed. Messages can be passed to the class teacher via the office.
*Owing to Covid-19 we are currently unable to have conversations with parents at the school door and appointments must be made via the school office if you wish to talk to your child’s class teacher*
A formal complaint may be made to the Chair of the IEB c/o. Goldthorpe Primary School. Complaints about the curriculum, Religious Education and related matters would be made under Section 123 of the Education Reform Act. Please see our policies page for the Complaints Policy.
